Peter Mendelsund, acclaimed book-jacket designer and associate art director of Alfred A. Knopf Books, investigates reading and visualizing processes, just how we visualize images from printed words in his book, What We See When We Read.
This project experiments with select chapters from Mendelsund’s book. The focus of my redesign is the way in which the type and simple imagery on the physical page engages and guides eye.
Typefaces include Gotham by Hoefler & Co., and Adobe Caslon Pro by Adobe Originals. This book is hand-bound and printed on 100lb text Legion Bamboo paper, 90% Bamboo / 10% Cotton.
